“Air Filter” takes a particular look at the atmosphere and airborne particulates. We don’t usually pay attention to the air unless there’s a problem; if we’re breathing some noxious fumes, eying menacing seagulls, or dodging flying objects. And frequently we don’t really notice what it is flying through the air until it hits the ground…. or us. Sometimes these things move around and collect in ways that show us something –fallen leaves spiraling furiously in the corner of an entryway, flies struggling in a spider web, or that plastic bag in “American Beauty”. Hopefully these 14 layers of screen give a chance to “register” a piece of air and air movement, and to reflect on the inventory and distribution of these flying objects.
